What makes Australian beef so nutrient-rich?
Short answer: the miracle of the biogenic carbon cycle. Let us explain. Cattle produce protein and nutrients, such as iron and zinc, from eating grass that ferments in their stomachs prior to digestion. This process produces methane and high-quality fertiliser. Methane is often cited in the media as an environmental hazard, therefore vilifying the beef industry. However, unlike the emissions produced from burning fossil fuels, methane is a short-life cycle greenhouse gas that is reabsorbed into the environment on a 12-year biogenic carbon cycle. It turns into carbon dioxide, a key ingredient that grass and trees absorb through the process of photosynthesis to create energy and oxygen.

As passionate beef producers and eaters, we wanted to offer fellow beef lovers a range of high-quality food with a convenience they can feel good about.
Hi, we’re Kelly and Mark, and 10 years ago we made a life-changing decision. We left our corporate city gigs to come back to Central Queensland and join the family food-making business, Keppel Brand. We soon stumbled into beef farming (it’s hard to avoid the gravitational pull of cows in Australia’s beef capital!) and moved to the family farm, where we fell in love with beef production.
Everything from the grass-fed, free-range lifestyle the cows enjoyed, their behaviour (cows have village child care all figured out!), the dirt under our fingernails, how cattle co-exist with native animals and plants, and better understanding the elegant energy production system that is Australian beef farming – we loved it all! We also discovered that Australian agriculture is made up of some pretty top-notch people, so our interest, learning and advocacy for all things beef naturally kicked off.
At the same time, we noticed there were few beef options available in convenience and for the hot box, and so began our Cattlemen’s journey.
Cattlemen’s was created to bring premium Australian beef to the tables (and hands) of beef lovers with a convenience we all can feel good about. We set out to offer flavoursome, quality beef products for busy families and those on the run.
Sure, everyone loves eye fillet, but our challenge was finding a way to showcase a lesser known but quality beef cut for people wanting tasty, moreish coated beef. During years of research and development, we sourced just the right beef cut, found specialised equipment to cut it into perfectly sized portions, and developed a batter and crumb with a mouthwatering combination of flavour and texture to coat. The result is Cattlemen’s Beef.
